A new year so time for an update on the retrofit of KLM’s Boeing 777-300ER fleet with the new, full-flat seat in World Business Class. Since the last update, KLM modified 4 aircraft. At this moment, only two aircraft are not yet fitted with the full flat seat in World Business Class: PH-BVI and PH-BVK. The entire Boeing 747 and 777-200ER have been outfitted with the new WBC seat for a long time.
The registrations of the aircraft with the new World Business Class seat are:
- PH-BVA
- PH-BVC
- PH-BVD
- PH-BVF
- PH-BVG
- PH-BVN
- PH-BVO
- PH-BVP
- PH-BVR
Per 4-1-2017
Two aircraft of the larger -300ER type are still on order. These will be delivered from the factory with the new seat.
Which seat is on my flight
Unfortunately, the Schiphol Airport website does not show the registration that is scheduled for a specific flight anymore. Passengers are now dependent on the seatmap during booking or in Manage My Booking on the KLM website. With only 16% of the aircraft not fitted with the new seat, I expect there is only a small chance that you would experience an equipment swap close to departure, aside from incidents. Hence the KLM site should give a good indication which type of seat is on your next flight.
EDIT: It seems like Schiphol’s website shows the registration of the scheduled aircraft again. Usually you can check one day in advance which aircraft is listed to operate your flight.
